Admissions

Highlights:

  • A completed online application
  • A baccalaureate degree by the time you begin taking graduate courses
  • a 2.75 or higher overall GPA, or a 2.75 or higher GPA in your last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus graduate courses if you have completed any)
    • If your GPA is a little below 2.75 but other parts of your admissions materials are strong, program admission is still possible because we evaluate application materials holistically.
  • Official copies of your transcripts
    • It is possible to apply for admission with unofficial copies, and then send the official copies later, upon acceptance into the program.
  • Resume or CV that includes contact information for two references who are familiar with either your academic work or relevant job experience
    • Examples: Email addresses or phone numbers for current/former professors, work supervisors, department heads, or volunteer work coordinators
  • Statement that includes why you chose this program
  • Application fee ($55 standard fee, or $90 if international credentials)

No GRE scores are required.

These programs do not require teacher licensure or specific prior courses for admission. The programs are designed for people who already possess a teaching certificate or who don't need a teaching certificate or have career plans that don't include working in schools.

Because these master's programs admit students on a rolling basis, you may apply to the Graduate College at any time.

Admissions Decision Process

Once your application materials are complete, your grade point average (GPA) will be calculated. The graduate program will be notified, and the graduate program will make an admissions recommendation to the graduate dean, with whom the final admissions decision rests.

After an admissions decision has been made, you will receive an email notification from The Graduate College. All admissions communications will be sent to the email address provided on the application.

During this time, you can check the status of your application in the portal of your online application.
